Bad Boy Wallace zu den Pistons!

Is leider ziemlich verstrickt, deswegen habsch kein Bock das zu übersetzen, also nur Drag&Drop!

DETROIT -- Rasheed Wallace moved to the Detroit Pistons in a three-team trade Thursday after playing only one game for the Atlanta Hawks.

Atlanta acquired Wallace from Portland last week.

In a deal put together shortly before Thursday's NBA trading deadline, the Pistons sent center Zeljko Rebraca, guard Bob Sura and a first-round draft pick to the Hawks. That pick will come from Milwaukee this year if the Bucks make the playoffs.

Detroit also sent guards Lindsey Hunter and Chucky Atkins and its first-round pick this year to the Boston Celtics, while the Celtics shipped Chris Mills to the Hawks.

The Pistons received guard Mike James from the Celtics.

Portland sent Wallace and reserve Wesley Person to Atlanta on Feb. 9 for Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Theo Ratliff and Dan Dickau.

Rasheed Wallace brings his average of 17.1 points per game to Detroit. (AP)
The Pistons figure Wallace, who is averaging 17.1 points and 6.6 rebounds, can provide frontcourt help for the playoffs. They had the best record in the East last season but were swept by the New Jersey Nets in the conference finals.

Under Larry Brown, in his first season coaching the Pistons, Detroit is 34-22 and in second place in the Central Division behind the Indiana Pacers, who own the best record in the Eastern Conference at 39-15.

In his eighth NBA season, Wallace's contract and turbulent history made him a prime trade candidate this season. He is in the final year of a contract that pays him $17 million this season.

Wallace was called for a league-record 41 technical fouls in the 2000-01 season. Last season, he and teammate Damon Stoudamire were cited in Washington state on marijuana charges while returning from a game in Seattle.

Then the NBA suspended Wallace for seven games for threatening an official on an arena loading dock after a home game. That was the longest NBA suspension for something that didn't involve physical contact or substance abuse.

        Baseball Primer 2004

It is absolutely essential that we get the format correct up front and without doubt about where we are going and how we will get there. The following are the rules and procedures I use for baseball and any other method or procedure is irrelevant. If you want to follow your own betting theorems that's fine, but the results are your responsibility, not mine.

        1. Baseball, more than any other sport is a flat unit wager. If the basic player unit is $100, then a one unit wager is $100, NOT $100 plus the juice. A -140 favorite pays $71.43 profit if it wins, NOT $100 because we bet $140 when our basic wagering unit is $100. DO NOT ADD THE JUICE TO A FAVORITE, accept the lower profit. The rule is, only risk is controllable, not profit. Nor do we reduce the wager amount on an underdog. Rememeber, the terms favorite and underdog refer only to who the betting public and linemakers believe to be the more likely team to win. When I handicap an underdog to win outright we have accepted the underdog as the favorite, IN OUR OPINION, and therefore the underdog is no less worthy of a full unit wager than the "public" favorite.

        2. "VALUE PLAYS" are easily the most misunderstood and hardest plays to manage in baseball. A "value" play exists when the underdog is NOT the most likely winner of a game, BUT, the payoff is far too high versus the probability of winning. For example: team A is favored over team B by -185 to +170. Now, Riddle computes the probability of team A winning at 55% so team A is the correct favorite. However, if at +175 team B actually wins 45% of the time in this supposed matchup, they will win 9 of 20 times and return +4.75 net units of profit. That is a "value" play. The odds are against our winning, but the play is worth making, believeing we will turn a profit in the long run. For "value plays" which I will specify as such, it is entirely permissable to lower the risk amount. We can make the basic $100 the target, instead of the risk. We would wager $58.82 at +170 to achieve a $100 profit.

        3. Baseball absolutely must be played against the best possible odds. All 10 and 15 cent books are usefull for underdog plays as they usually penalize the favorite first, knowing that is the side they will probably get the most action on. 7 and 8 cent books are nearly always best for favorites as they are the ones who fear wise guys and do not want to get wiped out by lots of action on big underdogs. 20 cent books are absolutely verboten! Both sides are penalized and only the biggest amateurs and suckers will play baseball at 20 cent lines.

        4. Absolutely NEVER, under any circumstances, fail to specify pitchers and then come back to Riddle bitching about a loser. No matter what you think, the starting pitchers are still the most critical element in baseball. No team in any other professional or amatuer sport is as dependent on one player as a baseball team is on the starting pitcher. All other factors are important, but pale in comparison to the role of the strarting pitcher. That is why on run lines and totals the sports books state "listed pitchers must go". They aren't out to protect you, my friend, they are out to protect themselves from unknown or inside information

Service rates will be up soon.

This is great, a 5th round pick!!! Serves them right for going after this headcase to begin with. What a worthless organization....

The NFL and the players' union have reached a settlement on the Terrell Owens' grievance that will allow Owens to go to the Eagles, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

Owens will travel to Philadelphia later today and will sign a long-term deal with the Eagles.

The Ravens will be compensated for voiding the Owens trade from the 49ers. They will be given a fifth-round choice (from the Eagles) for the inconvenience of losing Owens and having the trade voided.

Also under terms of the agreement, the 49ers will receive Eagles defensive end Brandon Whiting, a player whom 49ers general manager Terry Donahue considered for Owens before accepting a second-round choice from the Ravens.

For Owens, the trade to the Eagles fulfills his wish of going to Philadelphia. He worked out a $6 million a year deal with the Eagles minutes before the 49ers traded him to the Ravens. The 49ers granted Owens' agent, David Joseph, the chance to talk contract with any team while he was involved in trade discussions.

The Ravens completed the Owens trade two weeks ago and Owens protested because he wanted to go to Philadelphia. The case went to a special master Monday and a verdict was ready Tuesday until the settlement was reached.

Owens lost his ability to be a free agent because he missed a Feb. 21 deadline to file the paperwork to void the final three years of his contract. He claimed that the deadline was March 2, the start of free agency, based on the language in his contract. The Feb. 21 date came from a side agreement between the union and the NFL when the start date of free agency was changed to March 1.

The 49ers feel somewhat satisfied because they get a defensive end with starting experience.

"I like Brandon Whiting,'' 49ers coach Dennis Erickson told ESPN.com. "We needed a defensive end and we think he will help us.''

The 11th-hour settlement means the NFL's special master, Stephen Burbank, won't have to rule on Owens' grievance to become a free agent

                              Lerry Ness:

                              Larry Ness

The 28-game 56-team bowl season kicks off on December 14 with the New Orleans Bowl as 7-4 North Texas of the Sun Belt Conference takes on 6-5 Southern Miss. The SBC is inarguably the nation's weakest conference and while 6-5 Southern Miss is one of THIRTEEN 6-5 teams making bowl appearances, this is by NO MEANS the worst bowl match-up we'll be subjected to over the next 22 days....

In order of appearance, here's a list of some bowl games you may want to avoid watching! Although the beauty of what we do (that God for bookmakers!), allows us to have a ROOTING INTEREST in even the most UNINTERESTING of games....

Champs Sports Bowl (Dec 21)....6-5 Syracuse vs 6-5 Georgia Tech. Tech is actually a pretty dangerous team but QB Reggie Ball led one of the nation's most turnover-prone teams. Ball completed just 48.9 percent of his passes with 17 interceptions, leading the way to Ga Tech finishing tied for 111th of 117 teams in turnover ratio! Syracuse actually tied for the Big East regular season title but lost to Pitt in a tie-breaker or the Orangemen would have been playing in a BCS Bowl! Syracuse 'earned' its way to Orlando by losing at Purdue (51-0), at Virginia (31-10) and best of all at 2-9 Temple (34-24)!...

Fort Worth Bowl (Dec 23)....6-5 Cincinnati vs 6-5 Marshall. Marshall rebounded nicely from an 0-3 start to finish at 6-5 but one has to LOVE the Bearcats being included among the bowl elite! Cincinnati lost at Army 48-29 on Oct 9, ending Army's 19-game losing streak. The Bearcats 'solidified' their bowl credentials by losing their final game of the season at Louisville, 70-7!...

Las Vegas Bowl (Dec 23)....6-5 UCLA at 6-5 Wyoming. UCLA finished the season losing FOUR of its final six games and despite a 21-0 shut out over Stanford, allowed 29 PPG during that six-game bowl-dash! Wyoming counts a win over Division 1-AA Appalachian State as one of its six conquests and its five wins over Division 1-A opponents came over schools that featured a combined record of 20-35 .364! Can you say BOWL-WORTHY?....

Hawaii Bowl (Dec 24)....7-5 Hawaii vs 7-4 UAB. Hawaii gets in because the Rainbows got to play EIGHT games at home where the Rainbows went 7-1. On the road, a true test of a team's strength, Hawaii was 0-4 and got outscored 231-66! I haven't checked on this but I'm ready to go out on a limb and say that the Blazers are the ONLY bowl team this year that lost CONSECUTIVE games as 18-point favorites. You read that RIGHT! UAB lost at Tulane 59-55 as an 18-point road favorite and then just to make sure that wasn't a FLUKE, lost its very next game (at home this time!) 45-20 to South Florida, again as an 18-point favorite! CLEARLY, Hawaii and UAB are BOWL-WORTHY teams!

Music City Bowl (Dec 31)....6-5 Alabama vs 6-5 Minnesota. The Tide made a nice turnaround from last year's 4-9 disaster but went 3-5 in SEC play and are down to their third-string QB, Spencer Pennington (3 TD passes / 8 interceptions). Minnesota also went 3-5 in conference play plus finished 1-5 after a 5-0 start. This despite becoming the first school in college football history to have two 1,000-yard rushers in CONSECUTIVE years. Bear Bryant and Bernie Bierman must rolling over in their graves watching David Shula and Glen Mason patrolling the sidelines in this one!

Gator Bowl (Jan 1).... 8-3 Florida State vs 8-3 West Virginia. This should be re-named the "Fraud Bowl"! Florida State used two QBs this year (Rix and Sexton) that looked as if they would have trouble landing a starting job at a Division 1-AA school! FSU edged Syracuse this year 17-13 as 19-point favorites and Wake Forest 20-17 as 13-point favorites. The Seminoles also lost at Miami (excusable), at Maryland 20-17 (you MUST be kidding!) and home to Florida (20-13), for the first time since 1986! As for West Virginia, the Mountaineers couldn't win the watered-down Big East losing at home to Boston College 36-17, when a win would have clinched a BCS bid and a $14 million payday! West Va also lost at Va Tech and Pitt plus needed overtime to beat pathetic Maryland, 19-16. West Virginia's marquee win of the year came in a road win at U Conn (31-19). Strike up the fight song!

Fiesta Bowl (Jan 1)....11-0 Utah vs 8-3 Pittsburgh. This should be re-named the "BCS Bowl That ISN'T"! Utah goes 11-0 to become the first-ever non-BCS affiliated school to claim a BCS Bowl bid and gets rewarded with a game vs Pittsburgh! The Panthers lost at home to Nebraska this year, the ONLY road game the 'Huskers won in 2004. Just so you understand the significance of that, you should know that Nebraska lost its other four games this year by the combined scores of 179-61! Pitt also lost at U Conn and Syracuse. The Panthers also needed overtime to edge Division 1-AA Furman, 41-38! In one last slap in the face to the this Fiesta Bowl, BOTH head coaches, Urban Meyer and Walt Harris, will be leaving their respective schools as soon as the game is over (one might bolt during halftime if things aren't going well!). Meyer of course is headed to Florida and Harris to Stanford. You CAN'T make this stuff up!...

Heisman Wrap-up....As I predicted, Matt Leinart won the 70th annual Heisman Trophy! In my final Heisman top-10 I correctly pointed out that Leinart would win because White and Peterson would somewhat cancel each other out. I was right to a greater extent than I anticipated....

Leinart's victory came by a margin few could have predicted as he won FIVE of the six voting regions. His teammate, Reggie Bush, finished fifth in the voting and last in all but one region (the reason for Leinart's larger than expected margin)....

Surprisingly, considering that Adrian Peterson finished second in the voting, last year's winner Jason White won the Southwest region, not Peterson. White actually got more first-place votes than Peterson but the true freshman finished with more overall votes, making him the first freshman to ever finish second in the Heisman voting....

Leinart is not through with Peterson and White just yet, as they will square-off in this year's BCS title game on January 4 in the
                              Orange Bowl....

It marks the third time in the last five years that the Heisman winner and the runner-up will meet in a bowl game. In 2000,
winner Chris Weinke and Florida St lost to runner-up Josh Heupel and Oklahoma 13-2 in the Orange Bowl, giving the Sooners the national championship. The 2002 winner Carson Palmer led his USC team to an easy 38-17 win in the Rose Bowl over Iowa and that year's runner-up, QB Brad Banks....

Leinart and Peterson may not be done competing with each other after the Orange Bowl either, as Leinart could return for his senior season in an effort to do what White was unable to do in 2004. That is, to join Archie Griffin as the award's only two-time winner....

                              Something to think about

                                Trade Deadline is coming soon...

Chris Webber (Sacramento Kings, Forward, 31)

                                Webber-Stats 04/05: 46 Spiele - 21,3 Punkte - 9,7 Rebounds - 5,5 Assists

Gary Payton (Boston Celtics, Guard, 36)

                                Payton-Stats 04/05: 52 Spiele - 12,2 Punkte - 6,1 Assists - 1,2 Steals

Michael Redd (Milwaukee Bucks, Guard, 25)

                                Redd-Stats 04/05: 48 Spiele - 22,6 Punkte - 4,2 Rebounds - 2,5 Assists

Baron Davis (New Orleans Hornets, Guard, 25)

                                Davis-Stats 04/05: 17 Spiele - 19,3 Punkte -7,3 Assists - 1,6 Steals

Ray Allen (Seattle SuperSonics, Guard, 29)

                                Allen-Stats 04/05: 49 Spiele - 24,0 Punkte - 4,2 Rebounds - 4,1 Assists
Also wenn an diesen Infos was dran is, sieht das ja sehr nett aus!
