Aris Thessaloniki v Ergotelis Crete - 12 Feb 05 / 15:45 CET

After a 14-day break the greek league restarts with a match of two bottom-placed teams. As i wrote in previous articles Aris is a very popular team with a long tradition in Greek soccer. They faced serious financial problems a year ago but now things have been improved. The board that took over in the beggining of the season have done an excellent job so far. They hired the best greek coach Hatzaras (which is an Aris fan too) and all together work hard to put things in order. They promised that within the next 4 years Aris will be big again and none can argue about that. Aris have signed 6 new players during the winter break (4 players from Cameroon and 2 from domestic league) and they have showed that they can be very helpful. Aris face some injury problems since attackers Ampelas and Hrisafis, youngster star Papadopoulos (defender) and Markomihalis (midfielder) are all out. All of them are regulars. However, after the winter signings there are alternatives for coach Hatzaras. Three of the newcomers will start in the first eleven (striker Quemaha who already scored 2 goals in 3 games, very valuable midfielder Nebegleras and attacking midfielder Inogue). Finally Polish defender Murafski will take the place of Papadopoulos.
Ergotelis is a small team from the beatiful island of Crete. They play in the first division for the first time (and IMO for the last) of their small time history. They have an unattractive style of playing mainly defensive with counterattacks. They only have a couple of quality players including excellent striker Ogunsoto but as for the rest nothing special. For the game against Aris coach Sifakis has serious problems to deal with. Experienced first choice goalkeeper Haniotakis and Bulgarian midfielder Ivanof are out due to injury and Sila, Dimitris are booked. In adittion Koilaras and Shiliting are highly doubtful. New signing Falemi from Cameroon (defender) is not ready to play yet. Too many problems for Ergotelis and i can't see how they can get anything out of this match. I expect a home win. The weather is expected to be sunny but cold (3-4 degrees C) ideal for football.

Olympiakos Piraeus v Xanthi - 12 Feb 05 16:45 CET (without spectators)

League leaders Olympiakos will take on Xanthi in a very difficult game. The home side do not impress with their current performances and coach Bajevic is under a lot of pressure. Too many stars in the team (e.g. Rivaldo and Giovanni) and every week there is an incident going on in the "dressing room" either between the players or between the coach and some players. To me they look more like a circus than a professional football team. As for the injured players, defenders Anatolakis and Pantos along with midfielder Stoltidis are the the main problems for Olympiakos. Goalkeeper Nikopolidis has a minor knee problem but he will be most likely ready for the match. Xanthi play currently the best football in Greece. They work as a real team and show no fear regardless their opponent. This year i bet on them several times and they never let me down. No major injury problems for coach Matzourakis. Odds given from gamebookers 1.25 / 4.50 / 9.75 are outrageous. I think that this team of Xanthi is capable of even take the three pointer in an empty cold stadium (Olympiakos will have to play behind closed doors). Clear valuebet in 9.75

Hier spielt eine recht ausw?sstarke Truppe bei einem Team dass aus den letzten 3 Heimspielen gerade einmal einen Punkt geholt hat. Zudem hat Samsun letzte Woche gegen Fener sehr gut gespielt und 1:1 gespielt. Christoph Daum war mit diesem Ergebnis sogar zufrieden. Dies zeugt schon ein wenig von der Klasse von den M?ern vom schwarzen Meer. Dieses 3,9 sind f?ich deutlich zu hoch. Ist IMO ab 3,5 locker zu spielen.
